Interactive Storytelling

Here are two perfect examples of the new form of interactive storytelling and branded entertainment, all of us can enjoy thanks to the internet. An no, if you think "interactive storytelling" is only about clicks and different story paths, it isn't.

Philips - "Carousel"

So first we have this amazing "bullet time" like film, for the new Philips HD TV that has a pure cinema 21:9 aspect ratio. You have to visit the excellent microsite at http://www.cinema.philips.com to get the full effect of what the new TV set is like. But the film itself, shot in "one moment" is such an amazing new way to tell a story. Notice it carefully from start to finish, to understand what goes on, and find out who the bad guy is! (Hint: the movie can be seen as an endless loop). Tribal DDB, Amsterdam is responsible for the campaign, and the film is directed by Adam Berg for Stink Digital.

Bravo!

Samsung - YouTube HD Camera Trick Challenge

This one I love! As you can see it is a video about a new HD camera phone, that has the product as the "hero" of the story. Shot with the product. Using the product's main attribute: High Definition. A product attribute that enables the viewer to solve the puzzle.

No special effects. No cuts. Just an ingenious optical trick, like the ones "magicians" would be pulling. And a challenge, that makes the audience fully engage with the story, in an amazingly powerful and "interactive" way! You'll want to see it again and again, once you find the out the truth.

The viral ad was developed by London-based The Viral Factory.

Respect!
